Pusheen

Construction
Pusheen is a fictional cat created by the plush company Gund. She is a grey tabby cat and has become quite popular within the past few years with many people trying to collect all the different variations. I have also hopped on this craze and fell in love with the plushies, so much so that I wanted to cosplay her. I took various elements from history ( mostly the 1770s) that I felt suited Pusheen such as a cupcake silhouette, embroidery, bows, and lace. Every part of this dress is based on some plushie such as the donuts and pom poms at the bottom of the dress. Everything on the dress is hand made/ patterned and is historically accurate in some way. This includes the stays, stomacher, chemise, hoopskirt, and 6 layered petticoat that support the dress’s cream flounce and minky skirt. All pizza and donuts are hand embroidered since I do not have an embroidery machine and the paw prints are machine done. The hardest part of this cosplay was finding the right fabric to match the cat’s fur. I got over 30 samples of different greys until I finally made my own custom colors on Spoonflower. The top skirt and bodice are made out of a similar minky to the plush. The flounce is made of an ivory matte satin and is embroidered with 12 donuts. The petticoat is made of 87 yards of poly organza that was serged and bound at the bottom. This cosplay took over 6 months to make in a college dorm room.
